Portland, Oregon

Built Environments Northwest has successfully completed a major renovation of the 1200 SW Main Building in downtown Portland, Oregon. The 3-story, 17,150 square foot structure was originally built in 1924 as the Beth Israel School and is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.

Through a strong collaborative effort between BEnw, Ink:built Architecture, Klosh Group, Inc (owner’s representative)., SBH LLC (owner), the project team overcame unprecedented obstacles including a worldwide pandemic, momentous civil unrest, and historic wildfires to successfully complete this project on time and within budget.

The Architect melded a contemporary design seamlessly with the existing historic structure producing an elegantly modern vibe while maintaining the building’s original wow factor. Some eye-popping features include an 800 square foot floor-to-ceiling printed wall mural and a 32’ x 11’ glass wall with 16’ sliding glass doors. Designer amenities include a custom whiskey lounge, combinable open dining/ kitchen and conference/training area, bike storage, and fitness center.

Other significant upgrades included a new high-efficiency heating and cooling system, upgrades to electrical and plumbing systems, a new roof system, and custom casework.

We are grateful for the project team and many talented contractors and vendors who worked diligently on this project and are extremely proud of the finished product.
